The flag of the School was founded by the Social Committee for the Foundation of the Flag. It was then consecrated by His Excellence priest bishop of Ełk-Jerzy Mazur on 23 October 2003.
The John Paul II Gymnasium in Sejny continues the great tradition of education in Sejny. It also, similarly to the pre-war Saint Kazimierz Bishop Gymnasium, tries to train the youth in the spirit of religious and national values.
Our school keeps the memory of unusual bond between the inhabitants of Sejny and the Pope John Paul II, who while being the cardinal Karol Wojtyła, crowned the famous Saint Mother of God Statuette, which is known from Her grace, on 7 September 1975.
The Gymnasium conducts different kinds of optional classes using pedagogical innovations. It, especially, realizes author's projects in order to give equal educational opportunities to the youth (The Project Around the Gaładu¶ Lake - the guide for cycling and walking tourism as a part of the "Equal Opportunities" Programme. The project The Border Has Divided Us, English Will Integrate Us as a part of "English Teaching Programme". The Project Common Paths as a part of "The UE Phare Programme").
